2009 NAIP Imagery for Washington and Oregon Available Now
The 2009 NAIP imagery for Washington and Oregon state is available for
immediate delivery from Resource Supply, LLC. This imagery
is absolutely stunning. It was captured with digital sensors the
summer of 2009. Previous NAIP imagery for Washington was
captured on film in 2006. The digital version is noticeably better
in terms of image quality, color representation, and ability to differentiate
species.
The National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP) has been operational
for several years. In 2005 the state of Oregon was flown
with 1 meter pixel resolution, orthorectified color imagery.
Washington state was flown with equivalent imagery in 2006.
Resource Supply is selling the NAIP imagery as a value added
product. The imagery is available in the original format (UTM,
NAD83, Zones 10/11 meters) or enhanced for use on Pocket
PCs. For Washington, the Pocket PC version may be purchased in State Plane Coordinates, NAD83 Washington HARN South
zone, NAD83 North zone, and UTM Meters. The NAD83 HARN Washington South Zone is what the Washington
DNR uses (for the entire state). If you acquire GIS data from the DNR, it will match the imagery perfectly.
The Oregon 2009 Pocket PC version is available in State Plane Coordinates, NAD83 South zone, NAD83 North zone, and in UTM meters (zone 10/11).
The NAIP imagery for Pocket PCs has been re-processed to allow the imagery to run on Pocket PCs using
ArcPad and other software which support MrSID file formats. It has a slight (barely noticeable for most people)
reduction in quality. It's major advantage is that users can bring up entire counties of 1 meter color imagery
on Nomad, Recon, MobileMapper 6 or Archer Pocket PCs. As users zoom in, the definition continues
to get better and better. It is also usable on a laptop or desktop PC.
