Criterion RD1000 BAF Scope For Timber Cruising and Measuring Tree Heights
The RD1000 is a first-of-its-kind measurement unit engineered exclusively for the forest industry. It can project any basal area factor from one to 127. It also measures tree height, diameter, and does a limiting
distance calculation. It automatically corrects for slope and is extremely easy to use. The RD1000 works in all light conditions including bright sunlight and even under very dark, dense timber stands. Its clear viewing capability is especially apparent while cruising in dense timber stands in winter. The projected basal area factor is easy to see as well as the trees being sighted for 'in' or 'out'.
The RD1000 corrects for slope very quickly. As the cruiser looks up and down the bole of the tree, the projected basal area factor automatically changes to compensate for slope. It stabilizes much faster than the old style cruising instruments. It also has the ability to measure tree heights and tree diameters. Diameter can be measured at any point on the bole by using the rocker switch on the back of the RD1000. Users input the distance to the tree and then use the rocker switch to make the bar in the unit match the diameter of the tree. The actual diameter is projected inside the viewfinder.
